LA Kings – Black & White, ep. 6 – Marián Gáborík

6th episode of Black & White Season 2 LA Kings was dedicated to Marián. His journey back to the ice after his injury.

Marian Gaborik sits at home, icing his foot, watching the final of the World Cup of Hockey, unable to participate because of a broken foot sustained when he tried to get out of the way of a Mats Zuccarello shot but was unsuccessful in doing so. The Black and White series chronicles his rehabilitation, from his home in the South Bay, to parking his car in a handicapped spot, to receiving treatment on the training table, to skating on his own while the team was on a road trip, all the way through the behind-closed-doors notice from Team Physician Dr. Ronald Kvitne that he was cleared to play. The meeting with Dr. Kvitne is among the most interesting and revealing moments of the entire Black and White series, and it’s deftly captured by the Kings’ production crew.

“It’s very hard when you have injuries throughout your career. You’re all alone, you’re battling and you’re trying to get back, and you want to help the team, but it’s a part of the game.”
